Think back to your last few networking events, and the speaker that presented. Was there one that stood out from the pack? And why was that? I will bet it wasn't just the substance of the presentation but more important, the delivery.
How many times have you heard someone say "he/she was a great speaker" -- that's the point.
You can sell average substance with a great speaker, but not the reverse. People want you to engage them. If you don't have the delivery skills, then, as my mother would say, "it's falling on deaf ears".
Now think about how you pitch your own business - if you're like most, you think you're a good presenter and you leave it to chance. A dangerous move - investors, customers, and business partners are a lot less tolerant than those of us at networking events.
I've now started coaching people on the science and art of delivering their pitch. No sense for us to work on the substance, if they can't deliver the goods in a compelling, concise style.
Convincing them they need it is simple -- I bring along a video camera!
Want to see if you're delivering the goods?
Drop me a line - I'll bring my camera along!
Remember, it's Substance + Style....A 2/3:1/3 ratio.
