Segment Fishbones - Gone Fishing Lately?

Well today’s the day – I’d like to introduce you to one of my favourite tools for business builders – the segment fishbone!

Fishbone_1

Believe it or not one of the very common mistakes made by entrepreneurs is a failure to explore customers beyond the first customer type the product was conceived for. They pick their target segment without exploring other potential segments that might exist.  The danger here is that some very lucrative market segments get ruled out before even being considered.

The fishbone helps you to be brainstorm and think outside the box to identify as many potential customer types/segments as possible.  It helps you see patterns in subgroups and potentially larger groupings of customer segments beyond what you originally thought.

If you’d like a quick “how-to” guide for this tool, email me and I’ll send it to you. It’s an eye opener.
